Notting Hill
Although there are no specific boundaries to this popular patch of west London, it is usually taken to mean from the start of the Bayswater Road in the east to Holland Park Avenue in the west, from Hillgate Village in the south to Ladbroke Grove in the north. Home to Portobello Market (Friday-Sunday) and the world renowned Notting Hill Carnival held annually on the August bank holiday weekend.
Local attractions include a plethora of restaurants, shops and cafes including Notting Hill Brasserie, E&O, The Ledbury and El Pirata De Tapas to name but a few. Notting Hill Gate boasts two unique cinemas, The Coronet and The Gate. The Notting Hill Arts Club and The Gate are music venues providing a variety of live and club nights into the small hours (again, there are many more).
The area was brought to the outside world’s attention after the release of the 1999 film Notting Hill featuring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.
There is a very popular farmers market which runs every Saturday, behind the Waterstones on Notting Hill Gate. All produce is farmed within 100 miles of the market.
The area is well served with public transport, Notting Hill Gate tube station is on the Central, District & Circle Lines and buses along Notting Hill Gate provide easy access into the West End.
